How is your heart?

"What happened to a world in which we can sit with the people we love so much and have slow conversations about the state of our heart and soul, conversations that slowly unfold, conversations with pregnant pauses and silences that we are in no rush to fill?" -Omid Safi

When someone asks you "How are you?" How do you respond? I usually hear, "Good. I've just been busy." I'm guilty of it myself. But no really, "How are you? How is your heart?"

I came across a great article that discusses how the society we live in has lost its human-to-human connection. We are so busy being busy that we fail to connect with our families, communities, and even with ourselves. We are constantly on our phones, filling up our schedules, working crazy hours and not making the time to build meaningful relationships. I love having stimulating conversations and sharing parts of my heart and soul with other humans who are equally as interested to interact with one another face-to-face. With that interaction also comes a level of vulnerability that some aren't accustomed to, but we have to start somewhere. It's great to have technology for those moments you can't interact face-to-face but do we lean on technology too much?

I encourage you to take the time to reflect and examine your own heart and soul and find balance within your life. Have these conversations with each other. Your spirit and presence alone can have such a huge impact on someone else's healing and their journey.
