Weekend Highlights

Last week at work was a bit stressful. I don't like to talk much about my job because it's you know...work. Not very exciting, but it pays the bills for now. The recent acquisition has everyone in a frenzy. The most difficult part of the week was losing a colleague in the midst of the madness. Tragic events like this always send a reminder that those little things that stress you out really aren't as bad as they seem because you are still here to live another day, and you have another chance to enjoy life to the fullest.

On a brighter note, the weekend was a great opportunity to get away to get my mind off things. I attended a wedding and it was so great seeing my big sisters. The wedding ceremony was simply beautiful.....annnnd I attended a bacon festival! Those of you that know me know that I LOVE BACON! I was in bacon heaven.

Do blondes really have more fun?

So I randomly decided to dye my hair blonde. I know I'm always changing my hair. This is my second time getting blonde highlights, and I think it's a great look for the summer. But when adding color I have to make sure I keep my hair thoroughly moisturized. I'm still getting used to the new color. I also tried Carol's Daughter's Hair Milk on my coils and my hair loved it.  Check out my new do below!

Have I found my niche?

Lately I've been doing a lot of cooking. I cooked lamb for my friend Charmaine's 25th birthday. She's never had lamb and she loved it! I also made Beck's pie and sweet potato casserole for a family cookout. I didn't enjoy cooking at all until now. I only went into the kitchen to taste test the cake batter, and to eat of course. But eating out gets old and expensive. I enjoy planning and trying different recipes, and it's a great release. Themed dinners are so much fun! But what does this discovery mean? I'm not really sure. It's something else I can add to my list of things I love to do, and I guess I'll be a really good wife/mother one day. :) I'm a nurturer so I like taking care of others, and I hope to plan more dinners in the future and to become an even better cook. What are some of your favorite meals to prepare?

Hello Brooklyn

I had an awesome 4 day weekend! I hopped on a bus to NYC to visit my bff in Brooklyn. We had a cookout on Saturday, well... more of a "cook-in." It was rainy and cold but we still had a great time and partied inside. Our fruit concoction kept the party going :). Saturday we attended the Do Over day party on Pier 17 with a great view of the river, and Sunday we had lunch at Blockheads. They have great margaritas! Try the Black Flower with peach. Memorial Day in NYC is starting to become a tradition and has been a great kick-off to the summer.  I made some new friends and I can't wait until they visit me this summer in DC!

Weekend Highlights

This weekend I celebrated the achievements of my friends and I also had a low key celebration for myself. The weather was crappy all weekend but luckily the rain held off long enough to enjoy the outside events. Friday I went to Truckeroo and stuffed myself with delicious BBQ from one truck and a lobster roll from another. It was an interesting combination, but both very good. Saturday I went to my friend Toya's graduation cookout. She just received her Masters and she's moving to Houston! I'm so happy for her! It was great catching up with her and all of my friends from high school. I'm so glad that we all still have a close bond. Saturday me and a few friends went to a wine and jazz festival at Chrysalis Vineyards to celebrate my MBA. This is one of my favorite vineyards and home to one of my favorite wines, Sarah's Patio Red. We tasted 12 different wines and bought a couple of bottles to take home. I should really become a VIP member. :)
