Mix it up

I promise I don't go out every single weekend! But the past couple of weekends the camera guy got some great shots of me and friends! I love this plaid look. It's casual but I dressed it up a bit with a statement necklace and black skinny jeans with 5 inch heels. And yes I'm still the shortest out of the group in 5 inch heels!

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23

We are wired to love. Women. We are nurturing, emotional beings. Our greatest attribute and biggest downfall. It can be so easy to let our guards down to those undeserving as we become so emotionally attached to meaningless relationships and situations. Everything flows from our hearts...literally, everything. Our hearts are the very core of our being; it is how we connect with others; the source of our emotions, passions, desires, etc. It becomes difficult to be discerning when our emotions are involved, but we have to start taking better care of our hearts. I came up with three things to keep in mind on this journey.

Value Yourself: You must value your body, heart, and mind. But not only that, value your TIME and ENERGY. Life is just too short to be wasted. If it's not there, it's just not there. Let it go. There was a point where I was putting so much of my energy into making something work that I disregarded my own value. It became exhausting and I became comfortable with it. Know your worth. Do not let the fear of being uncomfortable keep you in a state of insanity.

Be Victorious:  It is a great relief to be able to hold happiness and peace in your heart during the worst situations. Love yourself, first and foremost. Stay positive and surround yourself with positive people. Know that in due time God will give you the desires of your hear. Blessed are the pure in the heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8

Be Vulnerable : To love is to be vulnerable. We have to expose ourselves and face uncertainty in order to love and to be loved. We cannot forfeit our capacity to love by living in constant fear of getting hurt or rejected. So we cannot put up a brick wall guarding ourselves to the point that no one can get in. Trust is a result of vulnerability that grows over time as we engage and connect with others. So share your stories with those who have earned the right to hear them and have also reciprocated sharing. It is an amazing feeling to finally be able to lower your guard.

I believe that God has put me in a place where I have no choice but to have faith and trust His plan for my life, and surrender it all to Him. Patience is key as I seek to find genuine connections and honest energy within all areas of my life. Those that are worthy will be privy to the depths of my heart.

2015

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with your family and friends. It was so much fun to catch up with my friends and listen to everyone's stories. We have grown so much over the years and we live all over the place now. Two of my friends are getting married this summer and I'm so excited to be a part of their weddings this year.

My family had a Christmas party and I was able to see family members that I hadn't seen in years. To end the weekend at home I went to the EL'CE Women's Vision Brunch with my two best friends at Mama J's.  It was a great time to catch up and share with each other our visions for 2015. I am so blessed to be surrounded by amazing friends that inspire and encourage me everyday.

When I first started this blog it was just something I wanted to do for fun and a way to share all of my random thoughts and experiences. A place to expose my vulnerabilities and inspire others. My personal theme for 2015 is to be "be bold and dare greatly." I wish to connect with my readers on a deeper level and dedicate more time to writing. I hope that you all will stick around for my self-discovery journey as I delve deeper into my creative zone.

What are some of your goals for 2015?

I wish all of you love, peace, and joy in 2015.

Xoxo,
Victoria
