Love + Art

Summer is coming to an end and the fall crept up on pretty fast! I'm excited we are headed into my favorite season of the year. With the change to cooler weather, I've witnessed some pretty awesome events this month so far. My soror married the love of her life! It was incredible to see how much her and her husband have grown over the years, and to witness such a happy union. I could feel the joy in the room during the intimate ceremony. Both are JMU grads, so of course it was a big reunion for us all, so we gladly partied the night away to celebrate the happy couple.

The next night I went to The Clever Bastard Art Show, which showcased some of the most talented local artists in the area, including live painting, spoken word, and live music. It was a great atmosphere for meeting new people and supporting the work of great artists.

The truth is...

"Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this."- William Parrish on Love from Meet Joe Black

I watched two GREAT movies this past weekend: Meet Joe Black and What Dreams May Come. The former has definitely been placed in my top 10 list.  Both are stories of love, life, and death. After watching, thought-provoking questions came to mind. What do you sacrifice for love? How do you know when you've met your soul mate? Do you have only one true love? What happens in the after-life? These are questions I've asked myself at some point in my life. There isn't a right or wrong answer, and I believe that the answers will come in due time for everyone. Both movies are over 10 years old, but I won't spoil it for the late bloomers. If you haven't seen either of these movies, I would encourage you to watch and tell me your thoughts!

timing.

in a perfect world timing would be just that...
perfect
as perfect as the lilies that bloom
and just as perfect as my Aunt Thelma's chocolate cake.
but we all know seeking perfection would leave us crazy as a bed bug
as my dad would say
but there's something wonderful about the surprises life hands us
those rare moments your soul connects with a stranger, or reconnecting with an old friend and laughing so hard your sides ache the next day.
those moments always come right on time.
that's perfection.

something new

What you've always done may not be good enough for you anymore.  I've lived in Virginia all of my life and I simply adore its beauty. But I've been praying for a new opportunity once I complete my MBA in the Spring. Maybe opportunity will keep me in the DC area a bit longer...but I think I'm getting that itch to move or maybe I just need to keep on traveling. :) I don't even know where I want to go! It would have to be a metropolitan area with great food and great people. Any suggestions? I thought about these places...
